How about creating an app for ANDROID??? Seems you’ve got a great app, actors are buzzing about it, but so many of us are on Android devices.
We’ve been thinking about other platforms, and currently, we’re still trying to make the iPhone version even better, and to take advantage of the iPad. Thanks for adding to the chorus of Android users – you’re almost as loud, collectively, as Blackberry users!
Ditto on Android request.
U guys have started a good thing here. U must must must add some type of pause function to this app!!
It is critical because as U kno we don’t always go back to the beginning of a scene. It’s frustrating to not be able to pause & process what U have retained & then Not be able to continue where U left off. Surely that can’t be too hard to add to this app. It will make the difference if I continue the service.
BUT, I give U props….. Great app that can only get better!!
Bravo,
Great meeting you yesterday! Stoked to get my iPhone 4 and start using the app regularly
Need info on how to record a scene on an ipad-Thx
You record exactly the same way as you do on any other i-device: complete directions are in the online manual under “Record” – here’s a link to the page: http://www.rehearsaltheapp.com/manual/record – the one thing to be careful of is that you don’t cover the mic on your iPad with your hand while recording.
We’re actually planning on doing better than that. We’re in the process of surveying our customers, analyzing our development costs and, if we can, come up with a flat rate like traditional software. We’ll keep you posted.
Love v.2! I love that I can pause and drag the audio back and let go to continue…oh what a time saver that will be! I just downloaded it and am sure I will find many more awesome improvements! Way to go! Oh, and the new pricing also ROCKS! All actors should get this app!
I gotta tell you, Renee, that’s exactly the reaction we were looking for! Thanks!
Is there any way to upload a finished copy, that is to send a marked copy of a script to email so I can print it? After I’ve got all the units, beats, cues, etc marked and highlighted it would be nice to get a print copy to use as a prompt book for running the play.
I’m afraid not – we haven’t created a metafile format yet for inclusion of all of your markup in a portable file – we are working on because we want you to to able to transfer your marked-up scripts between devices as well, but we’re not there yet. Thanks for asking!
I was just getting around to trying the original Rehersal app using an iPad. First of all I love this app. Wow. I can see many many uses for it.
Having said that, I am wondering why you downsample the PDF file to a lower resolution before sending. I am currently testing this as a memorization aid for my “day job” as an air traffic controller. I memorize large amounts of data off of charts and this app’s highlight/peek-a-boo function is fantastic for that. The problem is that when sending in a PDF chart with small type it comes back rendered in such low res that it becomes unreadable. Does rehersal2 send back in a higher res perhaps so the small fonts would remain readable?
Thanks for making this app and for considering this comment.
We’re always amazed at the number of applications outside of acting our app is used for. Hopefully, Rehearsal will remain useful to you. We don’t actually modify the PDF that is sent to us. However PDF files allow us to render them at nearly any resolution. Rehearsal renders them at a resolution that makes typical script pages legible but we have to balance rendering/display performance with quality. We could render them at a higher resolution and make pages with very small type much more legible, but this would cause our page display to become much slower.
We’ve tried to balance these tradeoffs as best we can for typical scripts but that means PDFs with very small copy are going to be difficult to read. Hopefully, that makes sense.
Son just bought your app. He has the lead in one act play, The Mairriage of Bette & Boo. Any idea where he could get a useable script for Rehearsal?
He can make his own – I’m assuming the script isn’t in PDF format, but rather a printed hard copy script, yes? So, from our FAQ page:
How do I use Rehearsal with hard copy scripts?
There are a couple of ways you can get a hard copy script into Rehearsal the App.
The most straightforward is to burst your script and scan the pages that you have scenes in into your computer as a PDF. You can do this very easily with a scanner like the Neat (which means you can use it for more than just keeping track of your performance-related expenses) or any other scanner. Then, simply email the finished PDF to your Rehearsal Email Address as normal.
NOTE: DO NOT TRIM YOUR SCRIPTS TO SAVE SPACE – scan the entire page, and keep them at 8 1/2 x 11 or, in Europe, A4 format, with nice thick margins (remember, you can zoom in on your lines really tight by pinching or pulling)
You can also use the IPhone’s camera to take snapshots of each page with an inexpensive scanning app available in the App Store – just search for Scanner Pro on your device (or just click this link). You take a picture of each page, assemble the pages into a PDF, and email it to your Rehearsal “script+” email address, all in Scanner Pro. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
Hello David,
Nice app. I just bought Rehearsal2 wich also apears now on my iPhone.
I highlighted a script and recoded my scenes on my iPad but how do I get the same material (script and scenes) on my iPhone?
Hope to hear from you.

You can’t just yet – there was no iPad when we created Rehearsal, so we’ve been watching how people are using the app, and working on a metafile format that will allow for sharing of markup from device to device (and user to user, so that directors can mark up scripts and share them with actors). We’ll keep you posted.
Thanks for a great app that helps me a LOT in My work. And thanks for helping me with my backproblems since i dont have to carry around 4 scripts in my bag

However. Sometimes you want to jump from the beginning to the end in the script instead of scrolling.
I would love if you could develope the same kind of reader that you find in the ibook app.
Maby also you could look a little bit on linelearner wich also is a very useful app.
Would be great to have that option in Rehearsal2
Thanks again.

If you study scripts the way I do, you can break your script up into scenes – and use the scenes to jump to various points in the script. We are working on a Go To function, though – so we hear you. What does linelearner do that you’d like us to do?
Some of the scripts I receive are rather long and scrolling manually to page 112 can take some time…ever thought of trying to add “scene skip tabs” or “double tap page skips” or something of the like to make getting to scene 15 easier? Thanks for the consideration, you guys kick A!!
We’re thrilled you like Rehearsal – thanks for the kudos. As to getting to pages faster, here’s a repost of the answer to that from a few days ago:

Love this app. For PDF viewing is there a way to be able to book mark a section in the script. Working on a movie script that’s over 100 pages and I only have two scenes. But every time I go back to work on it I have to scroll for a while to find the scenes. They are spread out over the 100+ pages. If there is not a way then maybe that would be an improvement! Smart app though. Really intelligent

This is a great app for actors… But so many crew members would love an app that has features for them too.
I have TONS of ideas…. But let’s begin with making scripts searchable? I’m a prop coordinator and my husbands a Propmaster. We need to search scripts (especially revisions) for key words. What scene does an item play in? -or- I need to see all scenes pertaining to a particular set or character. -and so on…. If we could search scripts, you’d have a whole new batch of buyers…..
Actually, we have tons of makeup, hair, set dresser, location scouts, wardrobe, propmasters and the like using the app – anyone who needs to tie information to a line or scene in the script, using Rehearsal’s Photo or Video (or Text or Audio) Comments. So we hear you! The problem is that most of the scripts that are sent to actors for auditions and actual on-set work are graphic scans of the scripts, not text-based PDFs, and so aren’t searchable. We had that as one of our original goals, but during the beta tests with SAG actors here in LA, we saw that the vast majority of the scripts were scans, not PDF outputs from FD or celtx, so no words available to search. Know that I’d love to add that in the future.
For right now, I’d like to hear what else you’d like to see in Rehearsal!
It is an amazing app! I’m excited to dive in…. I’m already using another app to hold all of my schedules, crew lists, extras breakdowns etc. on my iPad (that lightened my load) and now…. Leaving that big ole script binder in the office is a life saver!!! I understand the reasons for not being able to have a “searchable script” perhaps enough of us that do receive PDFs directly from their program of origin can ban together and force that to become the norm… Then imagine the possibilities!!!! (and oh man am I!) What about searchable notes? Just a thought…. Regardless… Thanks for helping me save on my chiropractor bills! Talk about lighten your load! WORTH EVERY PENNY!
That’s extraordinarily kind of you. I’d really appreciate it if you’d just copy and paste (if you don’t want to compose from scratch) a review for the iTunes App Store page we’re sold on – we really could use some new reviews (and if you’re reading this, we’d love it if you’d rate us and review us in the App Store as well!)
It would be great if you could tie in with Dramatists and Sam French to be able to purchase a script from them already formatted to be downloaded into this app…it takes quite a bit of time to scan scripts, but it would be worth repurchasing a virtual copy of any published play…like music on iTunes…that could work with the app…any word on if they are amenable to selling materials ready made for this format, and allowing actors on the go to take their libraries with them easily? Use our time even more efficiently? Please let me know if that’s a feature coming. Saves trees, saves space, saves time, still makes money….and everybody wins…
That’s an idea I had when I encountered my first theater booking and wanted to do just that with my own app.
I can tell you that no one from Samuel French returned our call. I will try again.

Finally found it!!! All good. Looking forward to getting started ! Thanks a mill! If I were to need help in the future that I cannot find in the help section, how do I go about it?
Thanks. So excited… This app is what motivated me to get the pad in the first place
