Once Rehearsal is installed, you’ll need to set up some basic information so that when you use Rehearsal, everything goes smoothly.

On any of the graphics below, if you tap or click on them, they will show you larger, and in some cases, more complete images. Try it!

First, launch Rehearsal by tapping on the Rehearsal icon on the desktop of your iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone. In the example below, we’ve moved it to the Dock, the row of four to six permanent app icons across the bottom of your device’s desktop, so Rehearsal’s instantly accessible from any of your desktop screens:

Then, once Rehearsal launches, you’ll see Rehearsal’s main menu. Tap on the Register/Login button:

You don’t need to register if you already have an account, so if you’re simply upgrading to a new version of Rehearsal, or updating a current version, tap on the Login to Existing Account button, and enter your username and password as usual.

If you’re using Rehearsal for the first time, you’ll need to create an account. Tap on the Create Account button:

Let’s start with your personal information, which you enter in the Registration screen: Tap on the Username text box:

…and start entering the following information via the keyboard that appears:

Username (required): this is the user name you want to use with Rehearsal – you can make it short and sweet, because you may need to type it into your login from time to time, and it’s added to your special email address with Rehearsal (more on that later):

First Name, Last Name (required): this is your stage name – no need to be fancy here, but this is how we’ll address you when we speak to you about Rehearsal. So, if you want to be clever and call your self The World’s Greatest Actor, fine. We’ll be sending you updates to Mr/Ms Actor and saying “Hey,The World’s Greatest!” when we drop you a line. It’s best to stick with your actual first and last stage name:

Password/Confirm Password (required): select a password you’ll use to gain access to your account, then confirm it. The two entries must match:

Email address (required): this is the email address you’ll be sending your scripts from when feeding them to Rehearsal, so be extremely accurate when you enter them. We’ll help you be extremely accurate by sending you a confirmation email message, with a link in it that you’ll need to click on.

If you don’t get that confirmation email, it may be trapped in a spam filter you have set up, or your ISP has set up for you, or you may have entered your email address incorrectly, so check both of those. Note: if you ever want to change this address, or add an additional address (like your agent’s and/or manager’s) those will have to be confirmed as well:

We use a confirmation loop because we want to be 100% sure that you’ve entered the correct email address for your account. It’s the right thing to do – until you click on the specially encoded link you’re sent via email, you can’t use the app. We’re committed to accuracy. Here’s what the email will look like:

Once you’ve successfully confirmed your email address by clicking on the link in the email (which you can do on your iPhone if you want, or on your computer), you can use Rehearsal. In the meantime, let’s finish registration.

Casting Age Range/Phone number (optional, but important for us to support you): Even if you’re celebrating your 29th birthday for the umpteenth time, we want you to give us the same age range you list on your resume. Again, this is to help us understand who’s using our little application, and your phone number is so we know how to contact you should you ask us for phone support:

Zip or Postal Code (required): this lets us generally know where you’re based, and helps us provide more support in higher usage areas:

Gender (required): entering your proper gender will allow us to update you monthly with free monologues that you can use with Rehearsal and can use at casting sessions, workshops, in competitions, class, street corners – anywhere monologues come in handy. And yes, it helps us understand who is using our software.

And that’s it. Tap the Register button:

…and we’ll send you that confirmation email – be sure to click on the conformation link in that email to finalize your registration. Once you’ve registered, you’re ready to start using Rehearsal.

Yes, that what your user record currently says – usually checking the spam trap on your email account locates the registration email with the link you need.

hi there – just purchased your app and am v. excited to get started using it (i am shooting an industrial for a bank this week and the dialog is killing me!)

so i am trying to register but every time i try, the registration screen is telling me that my email address is invalid. so i tried another and another and still no dice. i am wondering if because i am in switzerland it is somehow not allowing me access? i’m an american but i live here and really want to use this!!

thanks in advance for getting back to me –

Not usually – we have lots of users in Switzerland, and you’re using a gmail account, so where you are doesn’t matter. Usually it’s something small like a comma instead of a dot, or an extra space, or a foreign use of a letter, like an accented e – not legal in email.. Try copying and pasting your email address from something known to be good, just in case. I’m copying Brian on this as well.

I have just upgraded to version 2 for my iPad and I am having problems registering because my email hasn’t changed and it keeps telling me it’s already in use… What to do!? B

You don’t have to register again if you’ve already been using Rehearsal and are upgrading to Rehearsal 2 – simply log in with your current username and password. All of your scripts will be on the server waiting for you if you need to bring them back in.

Upgraded to 2. Can login fine on my iPhone but won’t take the same login info on mt iPad? Can I use it on both devices with 1 purchase?

  11. Comment by David H. Lawrence XVII — February 6, 2011 @ 4:28 am

Yes, once you purchase on one device, you can use the app on all devices you own and that you use the same iTunes account on: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, you name it. You don’t pay twice for the app, ever.

The login is exactly the same on all devices. If you’re having difficulties, it may be a caps or caps lock situation – but it will work.

Let me know if you need anything else. And thanks!

I purchased this app last night, created an account and I was prompted saying that an activation link was sent to my email. Thinking it was going to be immediate, it wasn’t. I checked today, still nothing. I resent the activation from within the app and said an email again was sent, however, I’m not receiving any activation email. Can you pleas look into my account, I am anxiously eager to try this app out. Thanks

Please check any spam filter you may have on your email. The registration server is working and has been up continuously.

    I David,

thank you for the reply. I don’t have spam filter set on my email client.

I have received today an email from you saying that you joined me to the Rehearsal google group, however, the activation email I am still awaiting.

Please let me know if I can send you my email and login directly, as there is no contact info other than this forum, please I’d really like to use this app ASAP.

I am still awaiting a response David, please help.

As you haven’t responded to the private email messages I’ve sent you, it appears that your ability to receive email from some senders is compromised. Please get with Rogers technical support and have them help you correct your email reception – we’ve had hundreds of users registering all weekend long, so the registration process is functioning normally.
