Hi David! Just started using Rehearsal and can't seem to get the recording function to work. After pressing the record button and hearing the beeps, I get an error message stating "error starting recording". I've checked my mic, sound levels, reset my iPad, but still not working. Couldn't find anything in the help section... Thoughts?

UPDATE: Deleted and re-imported the script and it works now.

Oooh, you could add folders for scenes, too, to allow those "dozens of versions" people to organize their stuff better. My needs are humbler currently.

Thanks! I stand humbled by the ancient wisdom of those who went before me. I have another (completely outrageous) request that would be mind-blowingly cool. I know you suggest recording my lines quietly and the other characters loudly. I would like to be able to record two tracks per scene: MINE and OTHERS. In my imagination, I would record OTHERS, with spaces, then while playing OTHERS I could record MINE into the gaps. Then I could play either or both, effectively creating an audio "blackout" feature for when I know my lines better. I have no idea how you would do this and maybe it's impossible, but I like to dream. In the meantime I simply record without my lines and leave quiet spaces. Good enough!
Looking forward to the next version -- you have the best app out there for this purpose. I appreciate the up-front $20 tag instead of a nickel-and-dime approach personally -- perhaps you could give others who complain their choice of pricing.

We actually asked our users, long before you were a user, and that's what they preferred, and as some actors record dozens of versions of their scenes, and sometimes are working on multiple scripts at once, they wanted the latest recordings at the top of the list. But, we also have plans to add all of your requests in the next rev.

Hi, I agree with the need to pause playback, and the desire to rename scenes, and would like to add another feature request: I'd like to be able to reorder my recorded scenes. Currently they appear in the list in reverse order of how I recorded them, an odd choice and also WRONG. :-) Thanks
This app is potentially awesome -- keep it up.

Great suggestion - remember that if you're slating your takes, that you take that into consideration when you watch the time - it will a second or so more than what you're looking for.

Hey David. Wondering if it'd be possible to build in a 'pause' function into the playback for recordings. You can certainly pause by catching the progress bar as it moves along during payback but a dedicated pause button would be really helpful. The very best way I've found to memorize lines is a slight variation of what you suggest. For years, I've kept a mini-cassette recorder on hand for theatre, film, and tv work. I'll record the other characters' lines all in one go and hit the pause button during playback to speak my lines. It forces me not only to know my cues cold, but also allows me to vary my timing as I rehearse. What's more, I'm replicating as closely as possible the conditions in which I'll be performing -- listening to the other characters' dialogue, knowing when to speak, and rehearsing my lines without any other help from reading or hearing my own dialogue. Let me know what you think and thanks!

As long as you properly stop the recording by tapping the record button when you're finished, then name it (or simply tap Done to accept the proposed name), it is saved as a recorded scene in My Scenes. You can confirm this by playing it back as soon as you are returned to the script by tapping the play button on the right. It is also accessible at any time in the future by tapping on My Scripts from the main menu.

If' you're in LA and you'd like a run-through on the app in person, let me know - I'm happy to do so.
